I’m kinda opposite! have family near but hired a nanny instead of letting them keep my daughter because I don’t want to have to rely on them

A lot of it too is that people are working longer. My grandparents were all retired when I was born. Our parents are not even close to that.

My in-laws passed away, my mom would be the only support we have but she’s so judgemental that I don’t even want her help once baby arrives 🥺

I also things sometimes families replicate that model. For example, my grandparents helped with my sister and me. Then my mom helped me with my kids.
