AlphaTheta’s latest product is a pair of wireless headphones called the HDJ-F10. It can connect to devices in two ways: first via Sonic Link, which is the company’s own wireless connectivity protocol that’s meant for DJing and pro sound. And second via Bluetooth for casual use. So how does Sonic Link work? It uses a transmitter called the TX-01 to send ultra-low latency audio from a sound source, like a mixer or DJ controller’s headphone output, to the HDJ-F10. AlphaTheta says the latency is at 15ms, which is barely noticeable when DJing. Since it’s much faster than Bluetooth, that means wireless DJ cueing and playback is finally possible - and in my tests the latency is negligible and you’re actually able to perform without monitoring delays. The HDJ-F10 comes with this Sonic Link transmitter called the TX01. You can also buy the HDJ-F10 without the transmitter, or even buy the transmitter separately. As for Bluetooth connectivity, it comes with active noise canceling which is great for casual use like when you stream music from your phone, tablet, or laptop. You wouldn’t DJ with this because the latency is real whenever you use Bluetooth. Even though it’s a wireless headphone, old skool connectivity is still present: It comes with a headphone cable that of course gives zero latency and, most importantly, serves as a fallback in case the internal battery dies while you’re spinning. Speaking of the internal battery, it charges via USB-C. If you forget things and are disoraganized like me, you’ll want to pack this cable in your DJ bag as an emergency - thank me later! The HDJ-F10 and TX01 from AlphaTheta are available right now. #alphatheta #hdjf10 #djjoeysantos #pioneerdj #dj #djlife #headphones #soniclink @AlphaTheta / Pioneer DJ USA @Pioneer Dj Philippines
