@octonation: ⬆️ Caption this Video ⬆️ 🎥: @JACOB GUY 🐙 After researchers spent 500 diver hours observing the Veined octopus between 1999 and 2008, they published a paper titled ‘Defensive tool use in a coconut- carrying octopus’ — and the nickname stuck!

(Lab-coat folks refer to the coconut octopus as, “Amphioctopus marginatus”) Researchers think that this ‘carrying’ behavior evolved first using shells before human communities started leaving coconut halves lying around. Comment CocoOcto If ya read this far!
