@domesticblisters: Replying to @orangefox0602 This is the biggest part of the ASD criteria that I take issue with. Even asd individuals w high needs can experience deep relationships with ppl who know how to engage & love them in a way that their brain works. And thats not even touching the issue of how women are better “caretakers/people pleasers” etc. #strugglecare #autism #ADHD #MentalHealth

💯 this. I have several bff's that are 10-20 year relationships. we don't take it personally when we talk over each othr or ghost... for months or yrs

My autistic kids in high school can pick other neurodivergent kids out in a crowd. They are having fantastic relationships.

Not me accidentally collecting all the ND’s into a friend group. Then thinking everyone is ND. Friend pointed out my sample is skewed. 😂😂😂

I was denial about being autistic for years, as I have always been pretty social. Turns out the circles I was in were other people who had ASD/ADHD 😅

Makes sense considering my main problem maintaining friendships is "randomly" upsetting people without knowing and them refusing to tell me what I did

that's because Autism is not determined by how things affect us, but by how we affect Neurotypicals

I’ve heard adhd described similarly. Super neat! My failed relationships have always been communication preference mismatches.

A lot of autistic ppl would rather be alone than hang out with mean ppl who don’t get them. It’s not a lack of interest in relationships

I need people who can friend like me. I need to be feel safe to show up inconsistently and not have that attributed to my morality.
