Same deal just explained as the stretch of the bolt, our John Deere books told us to wait 5 between each round or torque turn but waiting longer helps

Building high end race motors for cars most builders use a stretch gauge for rod bolts and such for that reason. Obviously not possible for this tho.

What a joke. Crab studs on a locomotive get torqued to 2400+ftlbs. And there’s no “rest” we don’t make excuses for slacking off

I just assumed it was too let the gaskets compress, or any liquid squish out - grains aren't moving at room temp

I'd love to see you do a test between immediate torque sequence and waiting between steps. see if it's a wives take or not

It makes sense but the manufacturers assemblers/robot doesn’t wait any time.. so if they didn’t do that why should I?

so basically your waiting 30 mins to torque a bolt to just not put a bit more effort into tightening it?
