In the ICU we don’t typically put vent patients on paralytic gtt unless we need to improve vent compliance. Idk about surgery though

For ARDS… look up ARDSnet and Berlin criteria. An acute abdomen goes to the OR, questions or not. Vented patients get sedation… paralytic drip rarely

you don’t have to paralyze most people on a vent. got used to it during covid with proning but even ARDS pts don’t HAVE to be paralyzed. just sedation
