Cross stitch is not just X’s!!! It also uses some of the specialty stitches of needlepoint. It can use different flosses, too.

Cross stitch has 5 basic stitches : 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full stitches (the "x"), and back stitch, and uses floss, not thread.

Needlepoint canvases also have the design hand painted onto it whereas I’ve seen cross stitch patterns come with a guide! Similar to paint by numbers

cross stitch has more then one stitch, but mainly it’s just crosses that you will notice. Other stitches include ( french knot, back stitch, etc…

Needlepoint also comes on a variety of canvas sizes! 13 mesh and 18 mesh are most common ☺️
