@feralforaging: Additionally, the leaves of Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) are typically broader than that of Black cherry (Prunus serotina). Also be aware that very young black cherry leaves may not have developed that rusty brown color completely yet! Chokecherry is an important food source for both humans and animals where it occurs! Last year I got to try delicious cookies that were made by @Orion Aon with chokecherry flour. Incredible food!
