Yeah def not cheaper if you’re coming from the west coast.. I can get a round trip to Hawaii from CA for $300 or less, Madeira is $1100+

I went 3 times last year. It's absolutely worth a trip. Go canyoning while you're there and swim in the volcanic pools! You won't regret it!
