Don’t believe the myth that you can’t have fun without alcohol. Even in sobriety, the joy of connection and laughter with your mates is there, you just got to have confidence that you are still fun without getting smashed. You may not be on the same level of madness as them by the end of the night but there is always a few golden hours that are just like old times. Drunk, I was loud, aggressive, arrogant, boastful, reckless and really really narcissistic, me, me, me, my jokes, my life, what im doing, my turn to tell a story, you know how it goes, keen to get another drink every 20 mins, zoning out, off somewhere mad in my mind. Sober im interested in how everyone is, what’s going on, I listen, im present, I remember the interactions, I connect, I actually feel present, its not as wild but its fun, different, but fun. Embrace sober nights out with enthusiasm and an open heart and mind, don’t be scared of them, look at them as a new thing, enjoy a new experience, start trusting in your actual personality, not booze Prioritize genuine connections over alcohol-fueled escapades, mix in food so you have something to do, enjoy nights on your terms and be confident to leave when it gets to much. Practice mindfulness to stay present and enjoy the moment fully. I honestly think friendship’s are more genuine when you are sober, that’s why you lose so many hangers on and fake friends when you stop drinking. Long gone are nights out talking to people I don’t connect with and about stuff im not interested in, in places I don’t want to be at the expense of days with my kids. Trust me, sober nights out are fun, and the next day is even better. #SoberNightsOut #FindJoyInConnection 🌟
