@elliegoldenlife: How I Taught my Dog Polite Greetings ⭐️ SAVE THIS POST for future reference Step 1: have your dog sit at your side with a loose leash, mark/reward for attention Step 2: have someone approach calmly, mark/reward for attention Step 3: have the person walking up be more interesting, and increase the frequency of treats for attention Step 4: let the person pet your dog if still sitting, mark/reward for attention Step 5: give your dog permission to greet, mark/reward for attention, you can recall them back if needed Remember, you're your dog's advocate. If someone on the street asks to pet your pup, it's okay to say 'no.' We sometimes use the stop hand signal and say 'sorry we're training.' #goldenretriever #DogTraining #smile #happy #bffs
