Hotels costs slightly more but have a lot more protections. Airbnb and others will drop you in a second and do everything to protect hosts not users.

We use Airbnb all the time in Europe, but we just make sure to extensively read reviews of anywhere we book. Never had a bad experience!

You can get a SIM card from EE for 10 pounds. You can recharge it every month and it has 4G data so that you aren’t being charged per minute for calls
