Hi everyone, For those following along on social, you may already be updated but for anyone who hasn't yet been so, I am updating here as well. Yesterday we returned to the vet with both Oreo and Pudding. Oreo had been throwing up randomly for the past week since the whole Megacolon ordeal. I didn't find it normal for it to continue happening so we went back to our regular vet for a reevaluation. They did blood tests as well as another x-ray. The blood tests found that his iron levels are almost back to normal (which is good), but they show that he has some sort of infection somewhere (they're not sure what). It's most likely caused by everything that happened. Sometimes bacteria can get into places with the type of procedure he had and cause a bit of an infection. To try and rectify this, he got an antibiotic shot as well as a shot of something for the nausea. He has a little pill to take for the next few days as well for nausea. The fact that we found the infection in the bloodwork is both good and bad. Good being that it's probably the reason he has been throwing up, so it explains things. Bad being that they don't really know what caused it. We will see how he progresses on the antibiotic and if things improve, great. He will go in for bloodwork again in a month or so to check if everything is back to normal. If things don't improve, he will need to see a specialist in Montreal for an Ultrasound. Our vet doesn't want to do it in house because she wants to be sure not to miss anything since this is a special case. IF we have to do the Ultrasound, it will cost a few thousand dollars. My hope is that we don't have to do it. Today he seems OK and has not vomited. Pudding threw up as well yesterday right after lunch. He threw up his entire meal and there was a rather large hairball inside. I was concerned because he ingested some yarn about a week ago and it hasn’t come out yet from either end. As a precaution, I brought him with us to the vet. He was checked and everything seems to be moving through OK, which it good. I am still unsure how much he ate and whether he chewed it up or not. I have been giving him laxatone as well as Oreo’s stool softener (suggested by the vet) to try and help it come out of him. If it comes out in his poop, it’s possible we never see it. So there's nothing to be done for Pudding for the time being other than to continue to monitor him. He is eating normally, drinking and being a Pudding so the vet doesn’t think there’s any cause for alarm right now. So that's the latest news up to now. I will do my best to keep everyone posted as usual. Thanks to everyone for your kind words, prayers and continued support. They're sincerely appreciated. Tina. #whenitrainsitpours #catsoftiktok
