@exotic.pet.vet: What if I told you that this ad was a scam? If you're not into veterinary drama, you can scroll away now. But if you want to be better informed, and possibly make a difference, listen up. There is a scammer preying on veterinary professionals. They're going under the names VetFocus, VetBookPro, and MedSimplified, among others, and they've stolen from a friend of mine. Dr. Nicole Cohen (@vet.helpful.notes) is a board-certified specialist in canine and feline medicine. For years she's been building her veterinary brand, creating these wonderful notes and guides to help vet students, vet techs, and new veterinarians navigate the world of small animal medicine. And unfortunately this past month, all her hard work has been stolen, and is now being sold by the scammers as their own. But it gets worse. When she reported the accounts to Etsy, the scammer shop countered her report. ETSY re-listed the products 10 days later, and then the criminal did the unthinkable to try and teach her a lesson- they slapped HER with a copyright infringement ON HER OWN PRODUCTS. Because of this, Etsy de-listed her two best selling products. She's since moved to Shopify, but it doesn't end there. 
 The scammers continue to list ads and profit from it online. So how do you tell they are fake? There are countless comments from bot accounts. If you click the accounts posting these robotic phrases, you can see that they have no real presence on social media and are not even connected to veterinary medicine. The scammers also make crazy claims, like how it's preferred by more than 100,000 vet students. There aren't even 100,000 vet students in the world. These scammers have even stooped to flooding her with 1-star reviews on her ETSY, trying to bring her site down. These criminals don’t know anything about veterinary medicine and have no genuine interest in helping veterinary professionals grow.  They just want to make a quick buck. Laughably, when Dr. Nicole compared her notes and the ones they stole, they didn't even label them properly as they didn't understand the difference between hyper and hypothyroidism in cats. So please - do not fall for this scam! If you see these ads online - report them! Share this story with Etsy, Facebook, Instagram, and all of your veterinary friends to get the word out.
