@elisabeth_0515: As a member of the Titanic community, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the families of those who were onboard. I know this is a very small account and I am indeed very much underqualified for covering this but for the past few days, we all have been having this conversation on how it could have been, and how it could have not been. Nevertheless, in the wake of this tragedy, I would like to ask everyone here to pause and reflect on what has happened. The wreck of Titanic is the headstone of many of those who perished in the disaster, and therefore the etiquette of visiting graves should be applied. Titanic has been a fascination of many, myself included, but at the end, it was a tragedy, thus this should not be treated like a tourist attraction. Here I shall also reiterate that deep sea exploration is a dangerous task, and the environment of the deep sea is ought not to be underestimated—this is why safety should be placed first. Thus, I would like to call for more regulations on diving into shipwrecks such as Titanic, to avoid another tragedy like the loss of the submersible Titan. It may sound ironic at first that it shares the name to the eponymous ship in “The Wreck of the Titan” which is said to have predicted the sinking of RMS Titanic, but I was incredibly dishearted over the distasteful jokes that I have seen in the internet in the last few days. No one deserves to be regarded as less human than others and no one deserves to go missing. I have also seen responses of asking for more attention to the recent migrant shipwreck in Pylos, Greece but based on the responses I have seen outside the Titanic community, it has shown people’s disregard on the “working class” that they said to care about. I personally have been aware of the tragedy that happened at Greece and I also am fortunate enough the hear actual refugees talking about how daunting their journeys were. However, it seems like a lot of people were not aware that Titanic was also a migrant ship and that a lot of those who were onboard did not make it to the American shore, let alone for those who made it but have lost all of their assets. We all could not bear to see Titanic claiming 5 more lives but sadly, no money can save them from their doom, just like a lot of first class passengers who perished in the night. May they all rest in peace. - #titanic #rmstitanic #history #historytok #historytiktok #historybuff #historyforyou #historyfyp #historyfypシ #HistoryTime #titanic1912 #rmstitanic1912
