Beginner: "My perfume is SO unique! It smells different every time I wear it!" Me: "That's not a feature. That's a BUG." Inconsistent performance = unstable formula. Professional perfumes smell THE SAME every single time. That's the GOAL. Here's why your perfume keeps changing, and how to fix it. --- 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 Your perfume smells different because: → Poor solubility (ingredients not fully dissolved) → Oxidation (materials degrading) → Insufficient maceration (not properly married) → Temperature-sensitive ingredients → Improper dilution technique → Unstable material combinations These are PROBLEMS, not features. --- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 Some materials don't dissolve fully in alcohol. They LOOK mixed. But they're actually separating slowly. Result: → First spray: one composition → Later sprays: different ratio → Inconsistent performance Solution: Proper co-solvents (DPG, IPM) for difficult materials. --- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 Citrus oils oxidize FAST. Week 1: Fresh bergamot Week 3: Slightly off bergamot Week 6: Harsh chemical smell Your "changing perfume" is actually DEGRADING. Solution: Antioxidants (Vitamin E, BHT) or use more stable citrus types. --- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 You made perfume yesterday. Wearing it today. It's NOT ready yet. Ingredients need 2-4 weeks to fully marry. During that time, smell WILL change. Solution: Wait minimum 2 weeks before judging stability. --- 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 ✔ Test solubility of all materials ✔ Use co-solvents when needed ✔ Add antioxidants for volatile materials ✔ Macerate 4+ weeks before release ✔ Test at different temperatures ✔ Check after 1, 3, 6 months ✔ Only sell proven stable formulas --- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 Create your formula. Make 3 samples: Sample 1: Store at room temp Sample 2: Store in warm place Sample 3: Store in cool place Test all 3 after 1 month, 3 months. Do they smell IDENTICAL?
