my grammy had dementia...she only recognized me as the version of my mom, her only child, she held guilt and sadness for. it hurts a lot, mourning someone you love so much, who sits right beside you.😭😭😭

dementia is a thief.. when my daddy was dying my gran gran had a moment of clarity which is so rare now, we are in end stages.🥺 she suddenly looked like she "woke up" she looked around and stood up and came to me and said your daddy is sick and dying isnt he? her voice was cracking and I said yeah gran dad has cancer, he will be with Pap soon. she grabbed me and hugged me like ahe use to and rubbed my head and told me he loved me more than anything. by the time we were done hugging she was already "gone" again but I needed that moment more than even i realized. I think she knew that too.

I just lost my grandpa to dementia in March and going through it first hand, seeing moments like this are incredible. Bless her and her dad. What a wonderful moment for her.
