Probably would’ve been better to put the rivets the other way, or use carriage bolts. I love the fix 👍🏼

Only problem I see is that this will eventually happen again because the strut is being used as the stopping point for when the lid is open.

same problem on son's tool box. I notched the aluminum at the top and slid in a plate to sandwich the damaged area and mounted to that. Good fixes

rivets are the only weak part now. looks good! metal bonding epoxy is the only thing I could recommend. not really needed.
