⚠️DISCLAIMER⚠️: I think every content creator I follow is an amazing advocate and puts out absolutely great content. This video is NOT meant to come across as rude or meant to call anyone out. It is simply my POV as a genetics professional about how hard reading diagnostic criteria is and how there are even more nuances behind the scenes than one would think. But also how acknowledging one’s mistakes is important but also how being perfect is impossible in such a complex topic area. I think we as EDS/HSD patients tend to think we are the experts (which tbh we are in SO MANY ways but going to further schooling also helped me realize I am not the expert in some ways). I just felt like it was my place to speak on the nuances of EDS/HSD genetic diagnostic criteria (as someone with professional expertise in both EDS/HSD and genetic counseling) ⚠️and to draw everyone’s attention to a much more pressing issue (the potential medical and Medicaid cuts)⚠️.
