Problem with this is in my area it doesn’t matter about pine. Loggers don’t want pine period nor do the mills.

You’d be better off using a tree saw/trimmer. Less likely to skin the tree and you can leave a little bit of the limbs out to heal itself

It’s best to leave about 6” of the limb so the tree will heal itself. Kinda like when a branch dies. It rots from the outside to the trunk of the tree

he'd be a lot better to cut it off and take some black paint and spray it where you cut it to keep the bugs from getting in it if bugs ever get in it
