Why We Owe Superman Another Chance. Few characters carry the cultural weight that Superman does. He’s more than a superhero — he’s a symbol. Of hope. Of decency. Of what we could be if we just tried a little harder. But over the years, we’ve buried him in expectation. Some say he’s too perfect, too old-fashioned, too hard to relate to. That he’s been done to death. Truth is, he’s never been done right for this generation. Man of Steel was one of the best 21st Century depictions of the character, not because it was different to the source material, but because it was dark. We’ve seen the brooding god, the misunderstood alien, the reluctant savior. But the Superman that believes in people? The one who smiles when he saves you? The one raised by good people in Kansas who still chooses kindness in a cynical world? That version feels radical now. And that’s exactly why we need him. Superman isn’t about spectacle — it’s about heart. He’s not cool because he’s strong. He’s strong because he’s good. In an era ruled by antiheroes and edge, he dares to be sincere. That’s not corny — that’s powerful. I love Cavill, I love Snyder, I love what could've been the Snyderverse Superman. It's not their fault that it never happened. It was beyond that, but atleast we saw what it could have been. It's time to move on, and open ourselves to what is possible. Cinema has room for darkness, but it also has room for light. I will open up to the chance of being wow'd by this version of Superman, and only after watching it will I make my thoughts known. People complained about Heath Ledger's Joker. People said Twilight's Robert Pattinson wasn't suited to be Batman. Execs didn't want Robert Downey Jnr as Iron Man. It's impossible to know what is what until we see it ourselves. I'm excited.
