@dee.siren: Back in 2019 after surviving 5 surgeries and 5 years of recovery, I made a pact with myself. I would NEVER tell myself that I “CAN’T” do anything I put my heart into. I spent years contemplating my life and future while I recovered. I envisioned my path and the future was bleak but the moment I was told that there was no way of helping my chronic pain, instability, and to fix the damage I have endured from a broken neck, cervical cancer, and several other health problems, I refused to believe them. I did my own research, I advocated for myself, and I started telling myself that I CAN do anything I put my mind to. My life changed!!! I got the surgeries I needed to fix my broken body, I found the specialists who could not only help the pain but teach me that it was all in my brain, I learned to walk again using brain & body connections. I learned all about my spiritual connection to myself which I had never been exposed to. I broke toxic ties even though it was the hardest thing I had ever done. I began to embody the women I could see myself becoming. I struggled and fought to become strong, independent, and believe in my ability to overcome any obstacles. My healing journey will be forever but this weekend before our celebration of Freedom, I want to recognize ALL the independent women who have built their own future. Who stand up to adversity.
