@pushpatterns: In this video, I’ll dive into a little-known technique that's as refreshing as an ice-cold Dr Pepper on a hot summer day. 🥤🔥 Introducing the legendary “Dr Pepper" technique - the secret behind setting up your 1176-style compressor like a pro! 🎛️💥 In the 1920s, a research study discovered that people often experienced a drop in energy at three specific times during the day: 10 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. Dr Pepper decided to capitalize on this energy dip by creating something called “Dr Pepper Time". They realized that a sugary soda could be the perfect pick-me-up during these intervals. 😮🕙 Fast forward to the world of audio engineering. An engineer searching for the perfect sound stumbled upon a groundbreaking discovery. They found that by setting the attack of an 1176 compressor at 10 o'clock, the release at 2 o'clock, and the ratio at 4:1, they could achieve outstanding results across a wide variety of program material. 🎧🔊 This magical combination became known as the legendary “Dr Pepper setting" - a shortcut to compressor perfection! 🙌 So, If you're looking to get your 1176-style compressor up and running in a flash, these are the settings you need to try out. Trust me, it's like taking a sip of that fizzy, satisfying Dr Pepper goodness for your audio! 😁🎶 ✅ Attack: 10 o'clock ⏰ ✅ Release: 2 o'clock 🕑 ✅ Ratio: 4:1 📈 The attack and release controls on the 1176 compressor appear to be reversed, causing quick settings to be displayed as slow. This can be confusing for users who are used to traditional compressor settings. Therefore, when using a regular compressor, it is necessary to swap the times around. The attack should be set at 2 o'clock and release at 10 o'clock. Save for later! 1176 has a super fast attack so in Ableton set the compressors' attack to 4 o'clock

Buuuut, on an 1176 style the fast/slow times are inverse to the glue comp. Soooo? What are you suggesting?

Can you explain why these settings are better? Just saying I should try it doesn’t really help amateur shlubs like me.

Bro the attack times on 76s are like x1000 faster than that ableton

only an 1176 attack time is 20 micro seconds to 800 microseconds so 22.9 ms in ableton is quite a difference
