Now everyone has seen the Jaguar rebrand and needless to say there are a lot of issues with it. The uppercase G that doesn’t make sense and the font that is already dated 😬. The zany colors and really cringey Zoolander head-turns in the teaser trailer that looks like it could be AI generated 💀. They threw away all the heritage and equity - and really everything that made the brand cool and sleek. And the JR monogram makes no sense. . If they wanted to convey their move into the EV future why not use the equity in the brand marks but modernize it? Maybe an evolution rather than revolution (or a devolution however you look at it)? . What I do like is the new leaping Jaguar symbol. They have separated the tail from the body to give it a better silhouette read and sharpened up the lines to give it a more modern feel while retaining the speed and dynamism of the old logo. . I know it’s easy to critique when working outside the brief and parameters so this is a just a quick exercise and exploration for a bit of fun. . I’ve always wanted to design an official logo badge for a sports car manufacturer, like when Ferrari release their new F series. The F80 logo is pretty awesome.
