So I’ve listened to this song many many times over, through the last few years after leaving an abusive marriage. I always heard it as aimed at another person. Then one day, in my healing journey, it came on and what resonated was it was like my higher self was speaking to the past version of me who was holding me back from growing and healing. It’s truly amazing how music, lyrics, can feel different in the many stages of one’s life. THAT is the power of music.
