always take the plate cover off and paint whatever you want where the switch is and then replace the cover and you're good

The metal still smaller than the cover the problem is if you do not take the cover off paint stats building up I am a professional painter. 🧐

with the cover off you should not have to cut it in. you get roller close enough and cover, covers it up. no cut marks around cover
