Hi, I'm Prince 👋, a Rohingya refugee born in Malaysia. I have been lucky to attend to 2 of the top educational institutes in Malaysia. Got my bachelors degree from Monash University and I did my pre-u at Taylor’s college Malaysia. Right now, I'm teaching at UWA, the academy I co-founded with my partner, Aziza Aznizan. I teach English, math, and computer skills to refugee kids. Also, I help Rohingya refugee adults in Malaysia and around the world with English through online classes. Besides teaching, I freelance in modeling and acting industry - I do fashion shows, TV ads, and occasionally dramas. Also, I work as a freelance fitness trainer. My stories, achievements, and the awards have received have been featured in various local and international newspapers, magazines, billboards, TV, and even cinema. Getting to where I am today required 25 years of sheer hard work, pain and disappointments. BUT, Everything I am today, I owe to the education I acquired despite being a refugee, beating all the odds and challenges. Honestly, it was parents who did everything they could just to make sure I pursued my education. They had so much of hope and belief in its power to break the cycle of poverty. They worked three jobs, sacrificing to provide me with every form of education possible—tuitions, refugee community schools, religious and music classes, even martial arts, despite our refugee status which restricts us the access to formal education. Today, I stand capable and independent, with a primary goal of educating my fellow Rohingya brothers and sisters around the world. Lately, our community has been facing so much of hatred and accusations. Yes, many of us are uncivilized and our flaws are mainly rooted in the lack of education, awareness, basic etiquette, and politeness. I completely agree and I admit that but then again how can we expect these people to behave civilized, when during their entire time in the home country where for centuries, they have been deprived of the most fundamental and basic right, which is education, a factor that actually helps a person become civilized. I used to feel embarrassed and ashamed of being a Rohingya refugee, but I am living proof of how a person can thrive if given the opportunity to pursue education. I believe anyone can become a valuable contributor to society, just like everyone else. Although I know my stay in Malaysia is temporary as a refugee, I want to give back as much as possible as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation. I owe my life to Malaysia for providing shelter to me and my family when we were at our most vulnerable. That's why I chose to step up and proudly embrace being a Rohingya refugee. I mean, if not me, then who? If not now, when? We've got so much of potential—why hide it? It's time for ALL of us to stand together, show our true selves, and what we're capable of. Let's not let a few troublemakers label us; there are plenty of good people in our community. My hope is that by stepping forward, I inspire more Rohingya refugees to embrace our identity, contribute positively, and reclaim our self-respect and dignity. Let's make a positive impact together! Happy New Year 2024! ❤️ #rohingya #rohingyatiktok #rohingya_boy #rohingya_team143 #refugees #refugee #fyp #fypシ
