You mistook our suffering for surrender. You mistook our displacement for disappearance. And you mistook our silence, at times, for weakness. You were wrong. We remember the fear. We remember the loss. We remember the families who never returned to the homes they loved. We remember the innocent people — Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot alike — whose lives were shattered by extremism, nationalism, and violence. We will not forget our dead.
