When the patella dislocates, the MPFL can tear or stretch, compromising its function. MPFL tears can be partial or complete, and they often require surgical intervention for optimal recovery. MPFL reconstruction is a surgical procedure aimed at repairing or reconstructing the damaged MPFL.
