For me, as far as I've read about consciousness, is the quantum universe itself. The quantum universe is emanating itself and, the classical state, of the human body, is but a receiver. But we, as we think we are, do not generate consciousness, we just receive it and tune to it and have individual experiences OF IT. Much like a TV with antenna. So when the body stops receiving, the consciousness drops back to the cosmic ocean.
