Spent her life in a shelter 🥺 Meet Beth - an adorable black lab lookalike looking for her forever home. Beth was brought into New Westminster Animal Shelter as a puppy, with the rest of her litter. One by one, her brothers and sisters were adopted… but Beth stayed behind. She was more timid than her siblings, so most people overlooked her. Hopefully the right family will see Beth and give her the forever home she deserves. 🤞 — Beth is a dog that is full of typical adolescent mischief and kisses. She is bouncy, playful, and eager to learn. She will do well with non-aversive, positive-based training to help her learn how to be the best dog she can be. She is very bright and loves to do nosework games with our staff and volunteers. We think she would do best with a safe yard to access for play and potty breaks. Given Beth's exuberance and caution around new people, we think a home without children would be best. Teenagers could be suitable, but a home with a lot of visitors coming and going isn't ideal. Beth would do best in a quieter area, ideally out in the suburbs or even the country, not a bustling neighbourhood. She has shown some reactivity to other dogs and to some people while out on walks. With time and space to get desensitized to these things, she does well. We have been using an exercise called "Look at That" where she gets rewarded for looking at a trigger and not barking. Beth has not been exposed to cats at the shelter, but we anticipate that she will likely want to chase cats and other small animals, given her puppy antics. She could *possibly* live with very confident cat. — 👇 How to Adopt: Contact New Westminster Animal Shelter @newwestanimalshelter P.S.
