I hear this said a lot, usually by people with substantial formal education (so I think it’s worth dispelling). If there were such a thing as “primary function” of the biceps, it’d be elbow bending, not supination. “Primary function” as a term partly makes sense but also doesn’t… Why it doesn’t make sense: if your arm is hanging by your side and you bend your elbow, your biceps simultaneously bend your elbow and also rotate your forearm into supination (palm toward the ceiling, using this example). Your biceps don’t take a moment to decide which of these actions they’re going to create, they just create tension that encourages both of these motions (as well as force at the shoulder). Why it does make sense: muscles have better leverage for some actions more than others via what’s known as “moment arm” and length-tension. Moment arm is what I illustrated with the distance concept in the video, and length-tension just describes how muscle length affects tension-generation ability. So, while a muscle doesn’t technically have a “primary action”, I understand what people mean - that a muscle has more leverage for certain actions than others. And, in the case of biceps, elbow flexion “wins” this award every time, which is why you don’t just do supination drills with your elbow supported to train biceps - you do curls (as an aside: there’s nothing wrong with training supination, especially in conjunction with a curl, which would be a great variant for the biceps)!
