@cayleependerass: Yes I even take the time to clean up the machine and oil it all down at the end. No one likes a dusty ass lathe. #minilathe #lathe #asmr #DIY #machinist #satisfying #engineering #hobby #manualmachinist #womeninstem
are you self taught with the machining? I have a metal lathe that was my father inlaws and I'm a little sketched out to use it

Showed this to my son. He’s a toddler and loves watching tools being used. At the end he said, “She did a good job cleaning up!”. Thanks for sharing this. ♥️

I miss my lathe. I used it for other people’s projects more than my own so I sold it. 😂

Nice mini lathe! Saw a cool trick to get rid of the long plastic stringers. You can notch the material horizontally around the depth of cut ur taking and it will break the chips in the interrupted cut.

When you were turning the OD seemed to be a lot of vibration. Does the lathe vibrate that much or was the camera just bouncing a little.

The first lesson I got before I could set foot in my dad's shop was "maintain your tools, because your work will be just as good as they are."

I use coolant in a spray bottle set on jet stream. Helps my tooling last so much longer. Is messy though.

i think you need a more agressive angle on the tool to make sure you break the chips?
