Manufacturers are making rotors thinner. By the time you change pads and turn the rotors you are all ready too close to minimum spec.

You don’t need new rotors but you’re meant to resurface them so you don’t get brake pulsation from overheated rotors that warp.

Do you HAVE TO? No…but should you? Absolutely. Will it work if you don’t? Sure, but you may get random noises/squeals

Ehhhh I wouldn’t say replace but resurface for sure if possible, I do understand your on the road and don’t have a brake lathe

Rotors Should be Cut or Replaced due to Lateral Runout(Causes Vibrations While Braking). I do pad slaps if asked but I always recommend rotors😁.

I always drive it or ask the customer if it's still stopping smooth other than the sound if so we can do just pads

I'm not made of money. I replace my rotors when needed. if not warped or damaged. it just gets pads

you should always resurface or replace when replacing brakes to get a fresh smooth surface for proper pad wear of the new pads

Rule of thumb is 2 sets of pads you do rotors, and then the next front pads after that do rear rotors and pads

Up can pad slap down in ok. Up in salt country we usually change rotors
