please share 👇 Hi, I’m Tess. I’m a 37 year old Accredited Financial Counselor and investing educator that loves helping millennial women build wealth. 4 years ago my stepdad (who’s been in my life since I was 3) passed. While he was somewhat organized, there were still some important financial pieces missing that made things difficult after his death. Six weeks ago my aunt and my mom’s best friend passed. Heartbreaking, but things did go smoother because we were prepared. So recently, my mom gave me this incredibly thoughtful and practical folder 🖤. Here are 5 things to discuss and put in a “When I Die” folder to help your family when they need it most: 1️⃣Legal Documents (Will, Trust, Power of Attorney, Healthcare Directive). It’s very important to my mom that she not be resuscitated in certain situations. Make sure your will and any documents naming a power of attorney or health care proxy are easy to access. Don’t have this? Find a good estate planner. 2️⃣ Financial Info (savings and investing accounts, insurance, debts) so your family can manage and close out these accounts without the stress of searching for details. 3️⃣ Insurance- Copies of life, health, home, and any other insurance policies, along with contact information for each provider. 4️⃣ Passwords & Digital Access (Email, social media, online accounts): Leave a secure list of all your online login details, or give access to a password manager, so your loved ones can avoid being locked out of important stuff. 5️⃣ Important Contacts (Family, financial advisors, employer). Another reason why investing education is important you need to understand how advisors are compensated and what’s happening with the money your loved ones have. Lastly, If you have specific wishes for your funeral or burial, include those details here, along with any notes for your obituary. There’s lots more to include, but even this is a good start. What else? I have a template for all of this (thanks to my mom) Follow 👉👉 @wealthwithtess for financial education and more content on things people don’t really want to talk about :)
