My lovely client wanted to go blonde, but it just wasnt possible becuase of the build up of elumen on her hair, from 7 years of use. . All decisions were made together. We decided to remove as much elumen with “elumen return”, and even though it lifted out some of the colour, it was minimal. . We decided to bleach a test strand after the return to see if the result would be any different, but unfortunately, it was minimal. . So instead, we decided to go copper. . I advised her that the colour would likely be uneven as there were so many bands. . We toyed with the idea of bleaching the root, but decided to create a dark root using elumen, and use permanent colour on the ends to create the copper. I wanted to avoid reapplying more elumen through the ends with hopes that one day, we might be able to get to a lighter colour. . After being sat in my chair for 12 hours (because of the precautionary measures we took and the amount of hair my client had), we managed to get to copper. . The full timescale of every step: -consult 30 mins -2rounds of return & cut 3 hours -bleach test strand 1 hour -dry hair and apply full head foils 3 1/2 hours -developement 1hour -dry and apply all over colour 1 1/2 hours -development 30 mins Blowdry and style 1 hour .
