Mind was blown when I learned the whole reason OSPF had to transit area 0 was loop prevention. Link state only within an area but DV when inter-area

almost all new switches have rapid spanning tree enabled by default. pretty much don't even worry about loops anymore

Years ago I worked at a FAANG company which had a L3 PubSub system. Retries retriggered fan-outs. We called them Packet Storms. They ate datacenters
