My point here is to point out the hypocrisy of a lot of these men in these situations & that’s what makes it toxic. If your mans is truly practicing then that’s where the understanding & compromise on your part can come in. Another element to this is how their understanding of modesty and your understanding of modesty may be different, so you might have to meet in the middle somewhere. It’s important to remember that they can’t EXPECT you to conform to the Muslim modesty standards if you’re not Muslim. If you’re comfortable with conforming to those standards, then great! But if they feel they have entitlement over how you dress even knowing how your wardrobe was before they entered into a relationship with you, to me that’s a red flag. THEY put themselves into this relationship with you, no one forced them into it. It was their own adult decision. You need to respect them, but they equally have to respect you too. These changes have to be long term so they aren’t something to discuss lightly. That’s just my opinion. I know it’s not nearly as straightforward as this, and that’s why I don’t have a clear answer. It comes down to communication and mutual respect for one another’s beliefs & comfort levels, and how well your morals & values align, that’s it. #modesty #realtalk #muslim #muslimtiktok #interfaith #interfaithmarriage #interfaithlove #hypocrisy #hypocritical #modest #modesty #modestfashion #Relationship #relationships #marriage #compromise #myopinion #christian #christianity #sin #dating #mutualrespect
