The voltage doesn't make a difference, our Amperage is WAY higher, yours is 3 amps ours is 15 or 20 (usually 20)

The voltage in the US was actually a safety feature, but requires more wiring ($$) so the UK and EU opted to go for higher (dangerous) voltage :)
