I grew up with so much low self-esteem because I was bullied a lot for my appearance with very little affirmation + validation at home to counteract the bullying I was experiencing. The day my therapist told me to call myself handsome during session I was looking CRAZY — no haircut, shirt not matching my shorts, crocs on… as Brendon said during the panel “COVID vibes” literally 🤣 I thought it was dumb until I walked to the mirror and realized I couldn’t even get the words out. I couldn’t even look myself in the eyes in the mirror and call myself handsome in the comfort of my home. I spent the next few months affirming myself every time I saw a mirror and those months of affirmation reprogrammed my subconscious, which changed the way I look at myself.
