I find that if it’s just been cleared, sanding dry with a DA 1200, then 1500 or 2000 then wet sand with 3000 makes it buff so good

Still have holograms in that from cutting/finishing on a rotary, use a dual action with a medium/light polish afterwards to remove holograms

For buffing fresh paint at the shop I’m at we usually do a 1500 then 3000 grit initial cut. Then compound on wool. Then step 2/3; compound/polish
