😭🚛 THE SAD REALITY OF BEING A TRUCK DRIVER — WE LEFT HOME TO CHANGE HOME 💔 Every morning, somewhere in the world, a truck driver kisses his wife goodbye, hugs his children, picks up his keys and walks towards his truck. Sometimes he leaves while the children are still asleep. Sometimes his wife watches him drive away with tears in her eyes, wondering when she will see him again. He tells his family, “Don't worry, my love. I'll be back soon.” But deep inside, even he doesn't know what the road has planned for him. We left home to change home. We left our families to give them a better life. We miss birthdays, funerals, anniversaries, our children's first steps and the moments that can never be repeated. We watch our children grow through phone screens. We tell them we love them through WhatsApp calls, hoping they understand that Daddy is far away because he wants them to have a better future. But who asks about the truck driver's pain? Look at us at the borders. Day after day, we sit in long queues under the scorching sun, waiting for paperwork and clearances. Sometimes there is no clean water to drink, no proper toilet to use, and no safe place to rest. We sit in our trucks, hungry, exhausted and frustrated, watching time pass while our families wait for money back home. And while we wait, danger never sleeps. Thieves roam around. Some drivers face robberies, violence and even death. We hear stories of colleagues who left home full of dreams but never returned. Their families are left waiting for a phone call that will never come, while their children keep asking, “When is Daddy coming home?” 💔 What crime have we committed to deserve this treatment? Are we criminals because we drive trucks? Are we less human because our workplace is the road? Why must a driver spend days without basic facilities while transporting goods that keep businesses running and countries moving? Behind every truck is a human being. Behind every steering wheel is a family praying. Behind every long journey is a sacrifice that many people will never understand. The saddest part is that when we finally get home, our children may have grown taller, our wives may have endured months of loneliness, and our parents may be getting older. We try to make up for lost time, but time does not wait for anyone. And still, when duty calls, we pack our bags again. Not because we love being away, but because bills must be paid, school fees must be covered, food must be bought, and dreams must be fulfilled. Dear God, we left home to change home. Please don't let us return empty-handed or in a coffin. 🙏😭 Protect every truck driver on these dangerous roads. Give us patience at the borders, strength during difficult journeys, protection from criminals, and dignity in our working conditions. Touch the hearts of those responsible for our safety and remind them that we are human beings, too. To every wife waiting at home, every child missing their father, and every truck driver fighting silently behind the steering wheel: your sacrifice matters. And to those who control our roads and borders, please remember this: a truck can be replaced, a load can be replaced, and money can be recovered, but a human life cannot be replaced. One day, we want to tell stories about the journeys we completed, not the colleagues we buried. May every truck driver who leaves home return home safely. 🙏🚛❤️ IF YOU CARE ABOUT TRUCK DRIVERS, SHARE THIS MESSAGE. LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD. WE DESERVE SAFE ROADS, FAIR TREATMENT, CLEAN WATER, TOILETS, SECURITY AND HUMAN DIGNITY. #TruckersLife #TruckDrivers #BeitbridgeBorder #RoadSafety #DriveToArriveAlive 💔🚛🙏
