We always taught our kids to find SOMETHING they did like about the gift and comment on that. “I love this color!” “It’s so soft!” Etc.

I tried teaching my son this and as he was opening every single present he’d yell in an exaggerated voice “just what I always wanted!” 🙄

I teach how to be grateful but not say they like it when they don't. otherwise the person may keep buying similar things thinking they love it.
