Jelly Fungi are evolutionarily ancient mushrooms that are well adapted to drying out and rehydrating with rain. They are characterized by their gelatinous lobed, leafy, and brain like fruiting bodies that produce white spores. Jelly fungi can be saprotrophic (growing on dead wood), but some species are also parasific, feasting on the mycelium of other species in the wood. All jelly fungi are edible, but lack any real flavor. They do however have an interesting gelatinous texture. . I know these videos can be polarizing, but touching Jelly fungi is very popular with certain demographics.
