I've never heard anyone say This is him! either (it sounds even odder with This is her!), but maybe some people do say it after all. "This is she/he" and "Speaking!" are much more common, in my experience. More informal: “Hey, it’s [Your name]. What’s going on?” “Hey, [Your name] speaking.
