my hospital has skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, and no bath in their policy. I didn't even have to ask, they told me.

I'm a UK midwife and we never clean babies. dcc is standard, and vigorous rubbing is only used on babies who come out in poor condition!

My midwife whilst in labour did not even ask to see/if I had a birth plan. My husband had to take her through all our wishes!

I walked in at 8cm saying "you're not doing this/that/the other" "I want a hands off birth" and the midwife said "wow" but respected my wishes!

Delayed cord clamping in hospital can have a v different definition too. For me it need to be white and stopped pulsing. Some seem to consider 30 secs

I'm 100% never giving birth in a hospital if I can help it. I'd be terrified.

If they have to whisk baby away to help them breathe, is there a reason for them to clean them? Both my girls needed help and we're wiped down.

I had it in my birth plan to do delayed cord clamping and have my partner cut the cord. They did it all while I was being stitched up 🙄

Please be careful with your words this is NOT " A routine intervention " in the UK. I have worked in multiple hospitals and this DOES not happen.

Please stop scaring women into thinkin this is routine practice &they have a battle on their hands in hospital. Midwives arent coercive & unkind.

I’m going to be a first time mom and I do not want this to happen. What are my options besides cleaning right after?

I don't understand why you don't clean the baby? I don't want to hold mine until she's clean.

It’s so hard to ask questions etc when you’re in labour. I really felt things were forced on me and not explained properly at all 😞 Will definitely..

I had these in my plan but unfortunately my baby was born white and floppy so his well-being was more important. 🥰

Even with a birth plan you should still speak up or have hubby speak up sometimes it’s forgotten 😩

I told my doc my plan, I’m not mad at her response but was she the right person to tell? Or do we have to bring it up to the nurses at the time?

I’m 37+2, First Time Mum and still no Birth Plan in place. Any advice? Should I just write a few things down on a piece of paper and hope for the best

What’s wrong with wiping the baby? Genuine question because I’d hate to have that stuff on it when they pass it to me

delay cord clamping, skin to skin and leave the vernix on the baby! Unless mama says so or intervention is needed🤦🏽♀️

Sometimes if the mother has a transmittable infection they have to wash the baby right away as a safety measure but that should be the only reason imo
