@j.t.odonnell: Replying to @normasolis654 How Working For A Company For A Long Time Can Hurt Your Ability To Get Hired 😲🤔😠😡 Yes, recruiters do judge you sometimes based on how long you worked at the same company. Why is that? Because when you've worked at the same place for a long time it's often not your skills that are keeping you there but rather your relationships. you've built up a reputation and you have connections that enable you to get the work done. however when you hop over to a new place you're going to have to start all over again. and oftentimes we find that you're experience really isn't as Cutting Edge as you thought. a lot of people stay at the same company for a long time and don't upskill and stay relevant. as a result you are overqualified and more importantly may not be as valuable as you think. it is very important to understand this and learn how to answer interview questions specifically behavioral questions in a way that puts you on the offensive so that you don't have to react and be defensive when they make comments like the one this person got in a job interview. check out my new series here on tiktok where you can learn how to answer the hardest behavioral questions correctly so that you can avoid having this happened to you! ❤️❤️❤️ #interviewtips #interview #jobinterviewtips #recruiter #overqualified #careercoachontiktok #careertok #jobsearch #jobsearchtips #careeradvice

This is why you have to get as many relevant trainings and certifications as you can. Establish yourself independently of your company.

Senior manamgement at my first real big organizations was like this. They despised any change and fresh ideas us young staff had. I left after a year

What about a lot of promotions at the same organization? I’ve grown and taken a ton of new roles in 10 years

I worked somewhere for 9 years. I plan to leave my current job before it's been 2 years bc of how much my wages stagnated by staying at that first job

If 24 months is too short length of time at a company, what’s a “normal” length of time?

Institutional Knowledge is valuable if the company is constantly changing and improving processes. Some resist change and don’t embrace it.
