Text in illustrator is a pre-press operator’s nightmare! Just use indesign; illustrator is for illustrations and Photoshop is for photo’s!

This works on all word processing programs. Usually you learn this in first grade when you learn how to type on a document (like word in the 2000)😁

I normally just keep the type styles to the side of the artboard, then use eye dropper to change the type to the style I want😂

I’ve also done a right click and selected Paste without Formatting and it matches the font in the text box too
