@patrickteahanofficial: When we think about the factors that lead to vulnerability to sexual abuse or exploitation in childhood, there is usually oblivious caregivers in the background. Whether we are twelve and have a deficit of care and attention or we are thirty, many of us look to anyone who will have us. This is a safety issue and an old one. As we grow, develop a better radar system for the first time and are more protective of ourselves, it's important to think of how we got here. How did the family system of origin set the child up to be looking for a home elsewhere? Before I started recovery, I was free floating through life and just happy to have anyone interested - without having a sense of if the person was safe or not.
