@samira_atash: Singer Sinead O’Connor (who changed her name to Shahada Sadaqat in 2018 after reverting to Islam), has passed away. O’Connor was widely known for the hit song “Nothing Compares 2 U” and was also vocal about her political stance against the Catholic Church. She ripped up a photo of Pope John Paul II during a television appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in October 1992 and called for a full investigation into the extent of the church’s role in concealing child abuse by clergy. For this, she was banished from the entertainment industry and suffered from mental health issues. She tweeted on Oct. 19, 2018: “This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam.
